Local Chiropractor Raises Funds For CF Research

2006-04-21 / Community

As the month of May, which has been designated National Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Month, quickly approaches, a local chiropractor has launched a campaign to help raise money for the fight against the disease. From now until May 31st, Dr. Frank Anderson is offering his services in exchange for a $25 donation to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF).

Cystic fibrosis, a genetic disease affecting 30,000 children and adults in the U.S., is characterized by an abnormally thick, sticky mucous that obstructs the lungs, causing severe lung infections. Additionally, the pancreatic ducts are often clogged, preventing enzymes from reaching the intestines to break-down and absorb food.

Dr. Anderson will provide a private, one-on-one consultation and comprehensive examination (x-rays, if needed, are not included) to new patients who make a $25 donation to CFF. Dr. Anderson, who has a nephew with CF, hopes to draw more awareness to the dire need for research funding. More than 90 cents of every dollar raised by the CF Foundation is used to fund CF research and care programs.

"If you're suffering with headaches, neck and back pain, or any other stress-related health problem, now is the perfect time to take action," he said. "Donating to CFF through this program will not only improve your quality of life, but will also help fund research to improve the quality of life of 30,000 people afflicted with cystic fibrosis."

Dr. Anderson's office, Nassau Chiropractic Group, is located at 313 Nassau Blvd. in Garden City South. For more information, or to make an appointment, call 505-1000.
