Adelphi Chorus To Perform May 1
The spring concert by the Adelphi University Chorus will take place on Monday May 1, 2006, at 7:30 p.m. in the Ruth S. Harley University Center, 1 South Avenue, Garden City, NY. The event is free and open to the public.
Under the direction of Michael Hume, the Adelphi University Chorus will present a program of sacred and secular choral works. In celebration of the 250th anniversary of Mozart's birth, two works will be heard: "Regina Coeli" for soprano and chorus, and the well-known "Ave Verum" for chorus. Lisa von Goerken, a member of the music faculty, will be the soprano soloist.
Also on the program will be works by Carl Bohm, Dudley Buck, Giuseppe Verdi, Johann Strauss, and George Gershwin. In addition, the chorus will present a new work by Adelphi composer, Sidney Boquiren, entitled "First Love Story." Adrienne Borbely of the music faculty will be the pianist.
