"Inkspots" Receives Awards
2005-2006 Assistant Editor Marissa Krupen with sponsors Suzanne Stuckey and Loreen McMahon The Garden City High School literary magazine "Inkspots" has received a rating of excellent from the executive committee of the National Council of Teachers of English.
A program to "recognize excellence in student literary magazines," in senior high, junior high and middle schools throughout the United States has been established by NCTE. The program is intended as a means of recognition for students, teachers and schools producing excellent literary magazines; as an inducement for improving the quality of such magazines; and as encouragement for all schools to develop literary magazines, seeking excellence in writing and school-wide participation in production.
The American Scholastic Press Association has also honored "Inkspots" with a first-place award for the quality of the publication. Congratulatons to the "Inkspots" staff on these well-deserved awards.
