'Metabolic Syndrome:The Liver Connection'

Topic of Free Lecture at Winthrop-University Hospital April 12th

Have you had an elevated blood liver test? Find out what this might mean at a free lecture, "Metabolic Syndrome: The Liver Connection," hosted by Winthrop-University Hospital's Women's Health Forum, on Wednesday, April 12, 2006, at 7:00 PM. Held at Winthrop's Community Outreach Center, 101 Mineola Boulevard on the corner of Second Street in Mineola, the program will focus on the connection between metabolic syndrome and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease.

Shiobhan Weston, MD, Director, Center for Liver Disease at Winthrop, will discuss how symptoms such as high blood pressure, abnormal cholesterol levels, and obesity may put you at risk for the disease. She will explain metabolic syndrome and provide the latest information on diagnosing and treating fatty liver disease. A question and answer period will follow the lecture.

Attendees are asked to arrive at 6:45 PM for registration and to park in the rear of the building. Admission is free, but seating is limited and reservations are required. To reserve your seat, please call 1-888-53-WOMEN.
