GC Police Foil Robbers
Garden City police captured three men who allegedly robbed a woman in Hempstead on March 19th. According to police, four men approached a woman in a parking lot in Hempstead at 5:10 a.m. and one of them displayed a handgun. The woman handed over her purse to the men, who fled in a 2006 Nissan Maxima.
The men were seen speeding along on Meadow Street and then making a right turn on a red without stopping by Garden City Police Officer Stephen Oswald. Officer Oswald followed them to St. James Street North where he pulled them over. One man fled from the car and Officer Oswald called for backup before arresting the other three. A pistol and the woman's pocketbook was found in the car. Garden City Police Officers Paul Hennessy, Errol Wedra and Sgt. Robert Pedersen assisted at the scene.
Arrested were: Soriano Cespedes, 24 of Uniondale; Francisco Castro, 25, of Copaigue and Ambiori Castro, 23, of Copaigue.
The three men were charged with first degree robbery, cranial possession of a weapon and criminal possession of stolen property.
