John Michael Talbot, the internationally-known Christian music performer, will present a concert on Thursday, May 11th at 7:30pm at Chaminade High School's Auditorium located at 340 Jackson Avenue, Mineola, New York. The concert features Tom Booth, Terry Talbot, and the reorganized Mason Proffit band. Selections will include classic standards from John Michael's "Signatures" and "City of God" CDs, and will introduce all-new songs from his August, 2005 release entitled "Monk Rock". "Monk Rock" is a high-energy, electric album that promises to have audiences on their feet.

In his most recently completed tour of the northwest U.S., John Michael and the band presented the new "Monk Rock" songs to enthusiastic audiences of all ages, while raising over $100,000 for the hurricane relief efforts of Mercy Corps, an international relief and development agency that John Michael has been associated with for many years. A recent concertgoer remarked, "It was awesome! The new sound is very refreshing and uplifting. All of the musicians and vocalists were fantastic. The second part of the concert was very spirit-filled and healing." From beginning to end, John Michael and the band provide a concert experience that takes an audience on a spiritual journey of prayer, praise and worship. John Michael's unique blending of music, teaching and spiritual guidance will provide participants with a prayerful experience they will never forget!

John Michael Talbot, one of the most prominent names in Christian music, directs a ministry that has spanned over twenty-five years. As a former county-rock star with the band Mason Proffit, he is well known as one who gave up the riches that come with fame. Living as a hermit at the integrated monastery he founded in the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas, many of the songs that come from his forty-eight albums are well known by millions all over the world

"I hope people enjoy Monk Rock, but more importantly, I hope they listen to the message in the music," says Talbot. "It was fun to take an electrifying message, and put it to electrifying music that has something for all ages."

His recordings and fans can be found around the world, and e-mails and letters routinely reach his home at Little Portion Hermitage in Arkansas with sentiments of thanks and appreciation for the ministry to which God has called him. Many of these reflect life-changing experiences related to the message in the music, and many have reported listening to his music during the birth of their children, and even at the death of a loved one.

John Michael is also the founder and president of the Catholic Association of Musicians, a ministerial and support organization for Catholic musicians, stressing spirituality, artistry and economy. Among his numerous awards are a Dove award, the President's Merit award from the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences, and Humanitarian of the Year award from Mercy Corps International. He has been honored to perform for Mother Teresa of Calcutta and Pope John Paul II. In addition to his impressive album catalog, he has authored eighteen books and is an acclaimed lecturer, teacher and retreat master.
