"She Love Me" At High School

Over the past several weeks, the actors, musicians, artists and crew members of the Garden City High School Dramatics Club have been preparing for the spring musical production of She Loves Me. Considered by many to be among the most charming musicals ever written, this classic romantic comedy was described by John Chapman of the Daily News as "...so deft, so light and so right that it makes all other music shows in the big Broadway shop look like clodhoppers."

She Loves Me tells the story of two bickering clerks in a perfume shop. Georg and Amalia. Both are in the midst of romantic relationships with their respective anonymous pen pals, innocent of the knowledge that they are in fact writing to each other. Set in 1930's Europe, this heart warming show features memorable characters and songs that are wonderfully personal.

The music for She Love Me was written by Jerry Bock with lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, the team that delivered Fiddler on the Roof . Bookwriter Joe Masteroff is the creative force behind the endearing story line.

Performances of She Loves M e will take place on Friday and Saturday, April 7th and 8th at 8:-00 p.m. in the Inez Spiers Auditorium at Garden City High School. Tickets cost $10 and may be purchased at the door, or reserved by calling (516) 478-2531.
