On March 16, 10:20 p.m., a suspicious male was seen walking on Franklin Court, and after PO Jacobsen stopped him, the man was in possession of a crack pipe as well as $18 in coins, a camera, binoculars and a 2-way radio The 49-year-old from Hempstead was charged with larceny and with criminal possession of a controlled substance...On March 15, 6:18 p.m., a 43-year-old Baldwin man became the victim of a robbery at Hilton Ave./Second Street. It seems the motorist was stopped at a traffic light there when a man described as white, possibly Hispanic, with long dark hair, and an unshaven face, 5'6"- 5'9 ''tall, medium build, between 20 and 35 years old, with dirty clothes and an offensive body odor, jumped in his car, carrying a six-inch dagger, and demanding money. The thief then took his $300 and fled on foot...On March 17, a truck stop was held on Osborne Rd, and 12 trucks were inspected with 47 tickets and 2 trucks taken out of service...On March 18, a truck stop was conducted on Clinton Rd./Commercial Ave. 4 trucks were inspected with 31 tickets issued and 3 trucks taken out of service... On March 20, a truck stop was conducted at Commercial Ave. and 6 trucks were inspected there with 32 tickets issued and 1 truck taken out of service... Someone damaged granite slabs valued at $18,000 in front of 1001 Franklin Avenue on March 17 at 9:52 p.m. Video equipment is now going to be installed...On March 20, 3:07 p.m., a 43-year-old woman from Long Beach allegedly shoplifted $966 in items, mostly Robert Rose necklaces, at the Lord and Taylor store...Someone stole a car radio and an IPOD from a car parked at 400 GC Plaza on March 17...On the same day, someone forced open a basement door at BK Sweeney's on NHP Rd., and stole$18,200 in cash from an office safe. The security camera had been turned around and security tapes were found missing... On March 19, 11 a.m., a 1993 Nissan Altima was stolen from Main St./Meadow St... Someone stole $8 in coins from a Yukon and Mercedes parked on Fifth Street on March 16...Someone entered a 2004 Nissan parked at Hamilton Place on March 17 but did not take anything...

FD found moderate smoke at a Pine Street house on March 15 and fans were used to remove smoke. There was no water in the boiler there and the resident was advised to contact a plumber... On the same day, there was an oil burner puff back without damage at a Tremont Street house...Wires to a light burned on an outside light fixture at a Meadow St. residence on March 15. There was a small fire on the grass and the resident was advised to call an electrician... There was a malfunctioning carbon monoxide detector at a Kildare Rd. house on March 16... FD found a smoldering heating pad in a microwave at an Adams St. house on March 16. There was some smoke damage...A car fire occurred at Old Country Rd. on March 17 and a 1 3/4"handline was used to extinguish the fire...Tree trimmers accidentally ignited brush at the GC Golf Club, Rockaway Ave., on March 17. A smoke alarm sounded for no apparent reason in the boy's locker room, GC High School on March 21...A rubbish fire occurred along the RR tracks at the GC Station on March 21...
