chess club still meeting

The Recreation Department’s Chess Club for children has two meeting dates left. They are:

Saturday, March 4

Saturday, March 18

The Chess Club meets from noon to 2 p.m. This free program is held on the lower level of the Garden City Library.

2nd session of preschool arts

and crafts

There are openings still available for the Recreation Dept.’s Preschool Arts and Crafts program at Cluett Hall. This six week program is open to any child age 3 1/2 to 5 years who is a resident of the Inc. Village of Garden City. The cost of this program is $30. For further information or to register, please visit the Recreation Office in Village hall. Classes begin March 7th.

middle school recreation night

The recreation department’s last Recreation Night will be held for all middle school grades (6-8) on Friday, March 3 rd from 7 to 9 pm in the St. Paul’s Field House. Admission is $5.00 and supervision will b provided by the Recreation Staff

Please note: Once the children enter St. Paul’s they will not be allowed to leave without a parent. Parents must enter St. Paul’s to pick up their children.

YOGA FOR ADULTS

Yoga is growing in popularity because it relieves stress, creates relaxation, and promotes a healthy mind and body. Participants will learn breath work and yoga postures that benefit everyone.

The Recreation Department will be offering yoga for adults who are residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City. The class, taught by certified Aerobic instructor Connie McKnight, will take place in St. Paul’s Cluett Hall beginning Thursday, February 16 and will be held from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. This eight week session will cost $40. All participants are asked to wear comfortable clothing and bring a sticky mat to the first class. For further information or to register, please visit the Recreation Office in Village Hall.

roller hockey program to start

Registration is still ongoing for the Recreation Department’s roller hockey program for the following age groups:

Rookies: ages 5-7 with no experience - the program is so popular that we have opened another section. This learn and play clinic will run from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. on sunday afternoons beginning March 12 th. The cost of this eight week program is $60.

Juniors: ages 9 and 10 - held on Friday afternoons from 5:45 to 7:15 p.m., beginning March 10 th. This program is played in an intramural league format. Children are placed on teams, play a six week intramural schedule and then have a playoff. The cost of this program is $60. There is room for 10 more children in this age group.

Intermediates: ages 11-14 - this program has been moved to Friday evenings at 7:30 p.m. instead of Wednesdays as not to interfere with school. The format of this league is the same as the Juniors above. The cost is $60.
