Life Of A Geisha At The Garden City Public Library

On February 1, 2006 patrons of The Garden City Public Library were treated to a very special program. Helen Moss and the IcheeFuji-Kai Dance Association presented a beautiful program on the Life of a Geisha. While Helen Moss took patrons through a talk and slide show on geishas, a member of the association prepared herself as a Geisha. Patrons were able to see first hand the application of the intricate make-up and the elaborate dress of a Geisha. After she completed her make-up and dress the audience was treated to a performance of the time-honored dance of the Geisha. Mrs. Mary Sweeney was this program's lucky winner. She went home with the new book Memoirs of the Geisha: A Portrait in Film.
