The Garden City Recreation Department is offering a seven week computer class for adults on Thursday mornings beginning March 23 rd at the Senior Recreation Center on Golf Club Lane. This program, run by Sharper Training Solutions, Inc., starts with Computer Kindergarten for Grownups and each week continues through the “grades” teaching participants to the basics of computers in a fun and easy way. These are user-friendly classes designed for the first time and novice computer users.

The seven week course will take place from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. the cost to register for this program will be $60. Registration will begin immediately at the Recreation office in Village Hall. Class size is limited to 24 people so please register early. For further information, please call the Recreation Department at 465-4075.

Day Trip To Montauk And Gurney’s Inn

Thursday, September 14 - Prime Time Travel will take you to enjoy a day touring Montauk - $61 per person. You will enjoy a wonderful lunch at Gurney’s Inn and then the coach bus will take you on a guided tour of Montauk. Reservations can be made by visiting the Recreation Office in Village Hall by March 1 st and leaving a $10 deposit made payable to Prime Time Travel. There are only 20 seats available for the trip so please register early.

Monday, March 6 th - “behind the scenes’ - We welcome back John Ellis Kordes who will join us to share some of the fascinating stories behind many of the photographs in his new book, “Visions of Garden City.” Afterwards, Mr. Kordes will be available to sign copies of the book.

Monday, March 13 - “TORPEDOED AT SEA” - a story of survival. Our own Barbara Wilson, longtime Garden City resident, will share with us the incredible experience she had as a young women shortly before World War II.

All seniors aged 60 and over who are residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City are invited to attend these free programs. All programs will take place during our Senior Recreation Group meeting on Mondays at 9:30 a.m. at the Garden City Recreation Center on Golf Club Lane unless otherwise stated.
