AAUW Sponsors Talk By Cold Spring Harbor Lab

Jeffrey J. PicarelloJeffrey J. Picarello The Cold Spring Harbor laboratory and the accomplishments of its women scientists will be the focus of a talk by Jeffrey J. Picarello, director of public affairs. The Garden City branch of the American Association of University Women invites the public to attend this informative meeting on Monday, March 6, 2006 at 7:30 p.m. at the Garden City Public Library. The Laboratory, a private, non-profit research and educational institution, was established more than a century ago and today is home to 330 scientists who conduct groundbreaking research in cancer, neurobiology, Plant genetics and bio-informatics. Recognized internationally for its educational activities, the Laboratory attracts more than 8,000 scientists each year, and not only trains college undergraduates through the Undergraduate Research Program, but makes the campus available to high school and grade school students. Mr. Picarello will highlight the work of female scientists whose research has contributed to the international reputation of this renowned laboratory.
