Choir To Perform At Cathedral
The Cathedral of the Incarnation is pleased to announce, as part of its “Music in the Cathedral” concert series, a concert by The Christ Church (Dublin, Ireland) Cathedral Choir, on Friday, February 10, at 8 p.m. Highly regarded and in high demand throughout Europe, the choir is making its first visit to the United States. Garden City will be its only appearance in the NYC Metropolitan area. They will perform a variety of choral works from the English Cathedral tradition, including Benjamin Britten’s “Rejoice in the Lamb.”
The Christ Church Cathedral Choir is under the direction of Judy Martin, director of Music at Christ Church and the first woman to head a cathedral music program in the United Kingdom. Tracing its origins back to 1493, the choir has always been an integral part of Dublin’s musical life, taking part in the first performance of Handel’s “Messiah” in 1742. Today the choir is a mixed-voice group of 20 young adults, and maintains a busy worship, concert, tour and broadcast schedule.
The Cathedral of the Incarnation is located at 50 Cathedral Avenue in Garden City, only one block from the Garden City Station of the Long Island Railroad.
Tickets for the concert will be available at the door, and are $15 for general seating and $5 for high school and college students. children under 13 will be admitted free.
