What's Up For Young Adults
Valentine's Day is almost here. Handmade gifts are special ways of telling someone how much you care. Senior Connections has planned a special program for seniors and the youth of the community to come together and create beautiful handcrafted valentines using multiple colors, interesting designs and original messages. Workshop leader, Joanne Insinga, will guide the group. Each participant will leave with a personal creation to present on Valentine's Day. Senior Connections will supply all materials. The workshop will be held on Tuesday, February 9th at 3:45 PM. Refreshments will be served. For further information and to sign up, please contact Marge Kelly, Young Adult Librarian or Martin Bowe, Reference Librarian at 742-8405.
Young Adults will have the opportunity to create a plaque with miniature flowers on Saturday, February 11th at 1-2:30 pm under the direction Susan Guaneri. Registration began Saturday, January 28 when the library opened. You may register in person in the Young Adult Department, by phone at 742-8405 or by email to mkelly@nassaulibrary.org. Be sure to include the participant's name, address, phone number and grade in the email.
Heading out to college in September? Be sure to stop at the Young Adult desk and pick up information and forms for student financial aid. January 1, 2006 is the first date one can file the FAFSA (free application for federal student aid) form for the 2006-2007 academic year. Available are the paper applications and the worksheets to prepare to file the application online. In addition, all the pamphlets and forms for those attending school in New York State are also available. While in the Young Adult Department, be sure to browse the college guide area for handbooks on private scholarships and grants.
