The students in Stella Guiry’s second-grade class at Stewart School celebrated Thanksgiving in a special way. The children read about Thanksgiving in 1621 and modern-day Thanksgiving celebration in read alouds, shared reading and independent reading.

The youngsters then worked in cooperative learning groups to perform skits of the First Thanksgiving.

After refining and practicing their parts, these talented second-graders performed for the excellent listeners in Ms. King’s class. Thee dramatic interpretations expanded the children’s knowledge of Social Studies and enriched their reading, writing, speaking and listening skills.
