Local Resident Establishes Awards
Local rssident Lana Noone has established the Vietnam Babylift 30th Anniversary Awards to be presented on-line at www.Vietnambabylift.org on December 30. The first Award, The Byron Michael Noone Memorial Award for Participation in the Vietnam Babylift will be awarded to all those in the United States, Vietnam, and other nations who opened their hearts to the plight of the Vietnam War orphans in April, 1975. Byron Michael Noone (1944-2002) was the beloved husband of Lana Noone, father of Heather (deceased), Jennie and Jason Noone, and (posthumously) father-in-law of Rosemary and grandfather of Heather Marie Song Yee Noone. He was a published poet, author, and college professor whose loss is deeply grieved by all who had the good fortune to know and love him. The 2nd Award, The Heather Constance Noone Memorial Award for Extraordinary Actions on Behalf of the Vietnam Babylift will be awarded to several individuals for specific actions taken to assist the Vietnamese Babylift orphans during April, 1975. Heather Constance Noone (February 14, 1975-May 17, 1975) was the beloved daughter of Byron (deceased) and Lana Noone. Although her life was brief, her courage and shining spirit remain as strong today as they were when she arrived from Vietnam via Babylift on April 23, 1975. Please contact Lana Noone at 486-0318 for complete details.
