On Sunday, November 6 the Cathedral of the Incarnation's congregation welcomed The Venerable Theodore W. Bean, Jr. as its new Provost. He is the Archdeacon of Nassau and has been the rector of St. Thomas' Episcopal Church in Farmingdale. A native of central Illinois, Father Bean earned degrees from the University of Illinois, Seabury-Western Theological Seminary and the Graduate Theological Foundation. In 1974 he was ordained to the diaconate and priesthood in the Diocese of Quincy.

Father Bean came to the Diocese of Long Island in 1976 when called to be rector of the Church of the Ascension in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. He has also served at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Glen Cove, St. Gabriel's in Hollis, St. Paul's College Point, and St. Margaret's Episcopal Church in Plainview.

Father Bean's diocesan responsibilities have included membership in the Diocesan Council and chair of the Department of Mission. He is a Board Certified Chaplain of the Association of Professional Chaplains. He was staff chaplain and then chair of the Interfaith Chaplaincy Department at Bellevue Hospital Center, first Director of Pastoral Care at St. John's Episcopal Hospital, South Shore and Director of Pastoral Care at New York Hospital in Flushing.

Clauson who is a long time faculty member of St. Mary's Elementary School in Manhasset. They have three grown children, Holly, Nicholas and Noel. They have taken up residency in the Deanery on Fifth Street.
