Police Report: Mischief and Mayhem
On November 6, 7:42 p.m., PO Florio, while on patrol on Franklin Avenue, was approached by a 31-year-old Hempstead man who claimed he was involved in an accident in Hempstead and that the other driver had left the scene. The officer took the description of the car that had left the scene and later found it at Old Country Road with the assistance of PO Jacobsen. They arrested the driver of that car, a 29-year-old from Port Washington, who was allegedly DWI (.13%), however, the victim returned to the officer's car and identified the passenger of that car as the man who had been driving. That man, a 27-year-old from Port Washington, was also arrested for alleged DWI (.12%), unlicensed operation and for leaving the scene of an accident... Between November 5 and 6, someone damaged a 1994 Saab parked in Field 6 E. There was $250 in damage to the car's windows...On November 6, 4:33 a.m., PO Dallolio heard a horn sounding in Field 7 S and observed a 24-year-old Huntington man asleep at the steering wheel with the car running. The motorist was arrested for alleged DWI (.26% )... On November 7, 3:35 a.m., PO Florio arrested a 21-year-old Roosevelt man for alleged DWI (refusal), allegedly passing a red light and allegedly speeding on Franklin Avenue... PO Jacobsen stopped a truck for equipment violations on Clinton Rd., on November 5, 5:04 p.m. The driver, a 22-year-old Hempstead man, was subsequently arrested for an outstanding Nassau County warrant (for violating his probation for a possession of a controlled substance offense). The man went directly to jail... On November 5, 4:32 a.m., PO Oswald observed a 25-year-old Amityville man allegedly DWI (.19) on Clinton Rd. The motorist was arrested for the offense and when he was subsequently searched, cocaine was found in his pants pocket and a gravity knife was found in his right boot. In addition, 3 bags of marijuana were found in his car. The man also had no insurance on the car... On November 4, a truck stop was conducted at Clinton Rd. 12 trucks were inspected with 75 tickets issued and 8 trucks taken out of service. There were 12 tickets for overweight including 1 over dimension truck...On November 7, 7 p.m., a 59-year-old woman from Bayside was approached in Field 6 E by a man described as Hispanic,30-years-old, 5'5 ''tall, wearing a dark coat. The man tried grabbing her purse, but the woman screamed and he fled. An investigation continues...
