#53 Center Keith Blazer got the offense started.#53 Center Keith Blazer got the offense started. The GCAA Thunder 11-year- old gray team battled Floral Park for the second time this year on Wednesday night.

The first half was a real battle with both teams playing great defense. Leading the defensive charge for Thunder were Billy Connors, Mike Lyons, Zach Westermann, Peter D’Antonio, Peter Alford, Brendan Adams, Matt Cotter, John Wein, Patrick Murphy and Chris Webster. The game was scoreless at the half.

Quarterback Danny Muller took control at the start of the second half with some great running help from John Derdak. Runningback Eddie Blatz scored the first touchdown of the night thanks to great blocking from Chris Harder, Keith Blazer and Pat Lyons. Floral Park took the lead 7-6 before the start of the third quarter.

Thunder drove down the field thanks to great blocking from Jake Schlapp, John Gentile, Pat Tully and Austin Menger. Derdak made the score 12-6 with some great running early in the fourth quarter.

Floral Park staged a late drive and went ahead 14-12 with a minute left in the game. The Thunder offense made a great effort at the end, but ran out of time. Their record now stands at 4-1 and they take on Bellmore next week. GO THUNDER!
