Thunder 9 Grey Goes To 6 and 1
Waters, Irwin, Tariche and McGoldrick in a defensive play The 9 year old Thunder Grey team won again on Sun., Oct 30th to bring their season record to 6 wins and only 1 loss, with one more game to play. Thunder shut out the Floral Park Titans at Floral Park 18-0.
COACHES! COACHES! COACHES! The Grey 9 coaches -- Head Coach Jim Gerspach and his four assistants Brian Collins, Jim Connolly, Pat Goulard, and Rich Magdich -- are talented, dedicated, and all-around great guys! All five are excellent at training and practicing these 9-year-old boys, many of whom are new to the game this season, at a few different positions, giving each boy a broader sense of the game and the opportunity to apply their football skills in different ways.
Every boy on this team contributes to the effort and all of them are to be given credit for their winning season! Highlights of their Oct. 30th game:
- 2 Touchdowns by Michael Collins: First a 52-yard run and the second an "instant re-play" of the first, but with an extra 10 yards at 62 yards.
Brett Stewart attempts to score TD - Liam McGuiness, in the right place at the right time, intercepted a pass, snatching the ball out of the air before the Titan receiver could catch it. (How cool it that?)
- Ryan Giacini added a fantastic sack to his credits.
- Touchdown by Danny Simmons on a 36-yard run, his first touchdown this season.
- A great break-away run by Brett Stewart brought great excitement and an "almost" touchdown in the last minute of the game.
Thunder 9 Grey wins 18-0. With a bye on Sunday, Nov. 6th, they play their final game on Nov. 13th at Elmont, looking to finish their season at 7 and 1.
