In Memoriam Stella Zaleski
Stella Zaleski, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, went to the Lord on October 24, 2005, just seventeen days short of her 102nd birthday. Stella had a long, wonderful life. She was born near Warsaw, Poland on November 10, 1903, the eldest of seven children. She married Frank Zaleski and came to the United States in 1928, settling in Southampton, where she lived for almost 70 years and where she and Frank raised their only daughter, Henrietta. Stella was a long-time employee of The Meadow Club in Southampton. The couple celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary prior to Frank’s death in 1977. In 1995, Stella moved to Marco Island, Florida, joining Henrietta and her husband John, where she lived until her death. Stella is survived by her devoted daughter, Henrietta, and son-in-law, John; grandson, Paul, and wife, Elizabeth; grandson, Lawrence, and wife, Kelly; granddaughter Barbara, granddaughter Susan, and husband, Billy; and great-grandchildren John, Lawrence, Charles, William, Greg, Jane, Caroline, Paul and Mary Labanowski. A funeral Mass was said at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Garden City, with burial following at Holy Rood Cemetery.
