There are FOUR opportunities for you to help feed the hungry and needy on Thanksgiving in our local area.

1. Sponsor a Family for Thanksgiving

The “Sponsor-a-Family for Thanksgiving” program is in coordination with Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal’s Gerald J. Ryan Outreach Center in Wyandanch. The food will be collected and distributed on Sunday, November 20.

To participate, please contact one of the following committee members as soon as possible but no later than November 16th:

All you have to do is:

1. Contact a committee member - get a list of recommended food items.

2. Purchase food for their Thanksgiving dinner. (No cooking is required.)

3. Deliver the food to Saint Anne’s parking lot on Sunday, November 20th, between 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.

2. Donate Food for Needy Families

This program is in coordination with S aint Martha’s Parish Outreach Center in Uniondale, serving 350 families. Thanksgiving food items are collected and distributed on Saturday, November 19.

To participate, please contact one of the following committee members as soon as possible but no later than November 16th:

3. Thanksgiving Monetary Donations

If you are unable to do the shopping, you can make a monetary donation. Please make a check (no cash, please) payable to Saint Anne’s Church with a notation that is for “Thanksgiving Sponsor a Family” program. Send it to Saint Anne’s Church, 35 Dartmouth Street, Garden City, NY 11530. Attention: Parish Social Ministry.

4. Volunteer to drive or work on site

Drivers are needed to deliver the food to both Saint Martha’s on Saturday, November 19th and Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal’s Gerald J. Ryan Center on Sunday, November 20th.

Teens are needed to work at the outreach centers and in the parking lot at Saint Anne’s on both Saturday and Sunday, November 19th & 20th. Please call Carolyn Keith at 248-4738 to volunteer.
