Thunder 9 Grey Pounds Warriors
James Lark, Brian Goulard, Drew Magdich, Chris Connolly, Brian and Scott Irwin. The Thunder 9 Grey team completely dominated the Franklin Square Warriors in a 32-0 pounding Sunday Oct. 23rd at Stewart Field, bringing Thunder's season record to 5 and 1.
The strong and effective Thunder defense posted a "Do Not Enter" sign for the Warriors, who got only a sneak peek of the end zone just once in the entire game. Thunder shut 'em down 1-2-3-4 most times, giving GC possession for most of the game.
For Thunder, the words "1st Down!" sounded like a broken record (for those of us who remember that needle getting stuck on a scratch!) Skilled and unrelenting offensive running and passing plays resulted in 1st downs too numerous to count and gave our boys 5 touchdowns, two with the extra point.
Chris Connolly man a mano with FS offense. Some Highlights:
- Super runner Michael Collins rushed for over 100 yards in the game and scored 2 TDs, including a 55-yard TD run on the first play of the game.
- Center Brian Goulard snapped quickly and perfectly to QB Jack Tigh every time, to keep things moving for Thunder.
- Jack Tigh had 65 yards rushing and scored a TD. He threw a 20 yard pass completion to Collins, who scored his second TD on the play.
