Courtney takes a shot and scores!Courtney takes a shot and scores! The Garden City Daredevils played in the ice-cold, wet weather early Saturday morning at the Field of Dreams against East Meadow. But as they say, "When the going gets tough, the tough get going" and that is just what we did that day. We were so pumped to play that we didn't care how cold it was. As a result, we were again victorious with a score of 9-1. Lauren Bischar and Coach Studdert were our coaches who led us to the win.

The rock hard wall of defense that was protecting our goal must have intimidated East Meadow. Bitty Furman, Brynne Murphy, Taylor Pappas, Niki Berkery, and myself made up the defense. They must have been terrified at the sight of our tough offense. With Erin Griener, Carly Knowles, Courtney Studdert, Krista Dampman, Jacqueline Jahelka, Victoria Piscopo and Lily Schmitt as the outstanding offense, our team was invincible! With the forward's speed and agility they were bound to score. We missed Jane Frumberg that game.

Jackie keeps her eye on the ball!
Jackie keeps her eye on the ball! The first goal was by East Meadow after a penalty shot (that was their only goal). But the Daredevils held strong and didn't let that stop them from having excellent ball control, amazing shots, and staying on their player like glue to prove that we could beat them. There was another penalty shot against us, but it didn't work out for East Meadow. All of the other goals were by the Daredevils. The goals were scored by: Krista Dampmen with a hat-trick, Carly Knowles, Bitty Furman, Courtney Studdert, Lily Schmitt, Brynne Murphy and Erin Griener and each of our halfbacks had at least 1 assist.
