Stanley Woodrow Mason

Stanley Woodrow Mason, 90, of Hendersonville, NC formerly of Garden City died Saturday, October 1, 2005 at Pardee Memorial Hospital. Born in Elmhurst Queens, NY he was a son of the late Henry D. Mason and Florence Leroy Mason.

He lived in Garden City, NY for 40 years and had been a resident of Hendersonville for the past 19 years. A 1936 graduate of Penn State, he held a Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering.

Mr. Mason spent his entire working life, forty years, with the American steel industry, first as a representative for the warehouse division of Jones-Laughlin, doing sales and sales engineering and the final fifteen years with the Supply Division of the United States Steel Corp. in the Brooklyn and Long Island areas. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge Cornucopia, Acacia Fraternity and served for several years as president of the Garden City Volunteer and Exempt Firemen Association. He was also a past president of the Indian Hills Homeowners Association, a member of the Hendersonville Garden Club and a volunteer at Pardee Hospital.

In addition to his parents, a brother Elwood Mason preceded him in death.

Surviving is his wife of 65 years Edna Anderson Mason; one daughter Susan Ellen Bothwell and her husband Robert Lewis Bothwell, Jr. of Ft. Worth, Texas; one son Stanley Woodrow Mason, Jr. and his wife Dorie Kudla Mason of Florida; five grandchildren Scott Mason of Oregon, Mark Mason and his wife Clarissa of France, Tamara Stock and her husband Trevor of Charlotte, Robert Bothwell, III and his wife Tammy of Texas and Brook Lewis and her husband Lance of Texas; and three great-grandchildren, Anthony, Nadia and Lauren.

Services were held in Hendersonville.

Thos. Shepherd & Son Funeral Directors and Cremation Memorial Center, Hendersonville, NC was in charge of arrangements.
