Annual Republican Reception
There is still time to join with your neighbors, family and friends on Thursday, November 3, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the Nassau County Bar Association to pay tribute to three outstanding people from Garden City. Nuala O'Connor Kelly, Chief Privacy Officer for GE formerly of Homeland Security, Donald Clavin our Town Receiver of Taxes who is seeking to be our County Comptroller and Daniel Palmieri who aspires to be returned to the County Court. Garden City continually has sported some of the most talented public servants and this evening is the perfect time to stop in and spend some time together.
Nuala O'Connor Kelly grew up in Garden City and her parents remain active in the village today. Before joining Homeland Security, Nuala served as Chief Privacy Officer for the US Department of Commerce and as Vice-president-Data Protection and Chief Privacy Officer for Emerging Technologies for the online media services company Double Click. She is a most accomplished individual.
Donald Clavin wed last year, Garden City resident Nancy Akeson and since has become part of the Garden City album of outstanding public officials. Prior to taking the office of Receiver of Taxes, he served as legal counsel to Assemblyman Darcy and as legislative aide to the late Senator Norman J. Levy. Taking all this experience with him, he joined the Office of the Nassau County Attorney whereas a deputy he learned the inner workings of County government operations. His commitment to public service is apparently a family affair as his father served honorably as a District Court Judge and his mother was the first woman ever to serve as a village trustee. "We are fortunate to have someone as bright as Don make a commitment to serving the public and help educate residents how to reduce their tax liability," remarked Maureen Saeli, club member.
Daniel Palmieri is one of Garden City's finest justices. Recently, Dan secured a victory in the recent Independence party primary thus securing his name appears on three lines on this year's November ballot. The fact that he received more votes than any other judicial candidate in the county speaks volumes of Dan's diligence and hard working ethos. "Dan brings to the bench experience, justice and enthusiasm," remarked Jackie Vita, club member. Dan has significant legal expertise and ranked sixth in his St. John's Law School class. He is the father of two daughters who are now both married with their own families and he was widowed and later married Mary Ellen O'Brien, who is also an attorney.
The Republican ticket also includes many qualified candidates including Gregory Peterson for County Executive, Maureen O'Connell for County Clerk, Vincent Muscarell as our County Legislator, Kate Murray for Town of Hempstead Supervisor and Mark Bonilla as Town Clerk. Additionally there are many qualified judicial candidates that need the support of Garden City residents.
Please mark your calendar for this coming Thursday night. Tickets are priced at $125 per person which includes the two hour cocktail reception and appetizers along with music presented by Sound on Sound.
