swim lessons for children at adelphi

The Garden City Recreation Department will be conducting Children’s swimming lessons for Village residents at the Adelphi University Swimming Pool in Woodruff Hall on Saturday mornings. Your child must be six years of age by the start of the program to participate. The classes will begin Saturday, October 29, 2005 and run for nine weeks. Classes are taught by Red Cross Certified Instructors. The cost is $40.00. To register, please mail this form and a check to the Recreation Department at 351 Stewart Ave. Walk in registrations will not be accepted until October 25th.

Level 1 - BEGINNER level - for children who have never taken lessons before

Level 2 - for children who have taken a lesson but have not reached level 3

Level 3 - for children who have not passed the old “Red Cross” level 4

Level 4 - for children who have not passed the old “Red Cross” level 5

Level 5 - for children who have not passed the old “Red Cross” level 6

Level 6P - Personal Water Safety - for children who have passed “Red Cross” level 6 or 7 or were currently in level 7

- stresses survival floating, treading water, swimming in clothes, etc.

Level 6F - Water Fitness - for children who have passed “Red Cross” level 6 or 7 or were currently taking level 7 - sessions will cover learning training techniques, how to use fins, kickboards, pace, clock, etc.

To register: by mail only immediately, no walk in registrations will be accepted until October 25 th. We can not be held responsible for delays in the mail. To register, pick up an application at the Recreation Office in Village Hall. You can also make your own by listing your child’s name, address, phone number, birth date, grade he/she will be entering in September and the class codes for which you are registering. Mail all information with full payment to the Garden City Recreation Department at 351 Stewart Avenue. Please make all checks payable to the “Inc. Village of Garden City”.
