Blessing Of The Animals
Brother Eric selling his delicious loaves of bread. The Cathedral of the Incarnation hosted a Blessing of Animals service on Sunday, October 2nd. Many people and pets were present and enjoyed the occasion. The service coincided with the Feast Day of Saint Francis of Assisi, who is the patron saint of animals. On that same Sunday, Brothers Leo and Eric, Franciscan Friars from the Episcopal Franciscan order were guests at the Cathedral. Brother Leo spoke about the life and vocation of the monastic community. The monks at Little Portion Friary in Mount Sinai, Long Island take a vow of poverty. Brother Eric brought along bread that is freshly baked at the monastery by the monks and which they sell to support themselves. Lots of loaves were purchased by those attending the services throughout the day.
