The Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Garden City and Trinity Lutheran Church in New Hyde Park have entered into a one-year mentoring relationship. The effort will assist the congregation in New Hyde Park during the vacancy of a pastor and to continue its mission of growth for the sake of Jesus.
The two congregations are working together over the next year. The staff of Resurrection is seeing to the day-to-day ministry needs of the church in New Hyde Park during their vacancy. Additionally, the congregations are working together at the leadership level to assist Trinity in developing a strategic plan and mission statement. Finally, both congregations will be involved in joint activities so that they can learn from each other and grow in their faith.
Pastor Bill Harmon, Pastor of Resurrection and Circuit Counselor for Nassau County, said, "Congregations working together so that they can be as strong as they can be is vital to the mission of the church. Our common goal is the proclaiming of Jesus as the Messiah and Savior. Over the next year, Resurrection will not only offer much but learn and grow as well."
