Many local businesses contributed to this event. Thirty-one foursomes played golf and over 300 people attended this event. Dr. James Goydos, Co-Director of the Melanoma Program at the N.J. Cancer Institute spoke about melanoma education and the new horizons in melanoma research. "The Dark Side of the Sun" an educational DVD, produced by the foundation, in cooperation with MCS Advertising about the need for sun protection and the importance of mole identification, was shown at the dinner. A $5,000 check from the GCAA/Youth Network was presented by Kim McEntee, Jenna Wood, James and Ryan Buser and Kelly Donnelly representing funds collected at the Wiffle Ball Tournament held in August at St. Paul's Fields.

In the past year, the foundation has made presentations and distributed sunscreen to many programs on Long Island. Their free skin screening program enabled 100 people to be seen by local dermatologists for a complete body exam. Thousands of wallet sized "awareness" brochures have been distributed to colleges, universities and dermatologist offices throughout the United States. The Mollie Biggane Foundation sponsored a Skin Cancer Awareness Campaign that was advertised in Newsday and local Long Island newspapers in May and June. On October 29th, the foundation will sponsor, a melanoma symposium at Garden City Country Club. Dr. Howard Kaufman, Associate Director of The Melanoma Center at Columbia University, will chair the event. This program is for patients, family members and health care providers to give new insights into treatment.
