Forwards Kelly Punturo, Kayla Murphy and Stacey Madelmayer put the pressure on the Blaze early, with two of Stacey's chances turned aside by the Blaze's goalie and Kelly's shots narrowly missing wide. Finally, Kayla put the Tigers up 1-0 about midway through the first half, placing her shot into the lower right corner of the net. Kelly O'Donnell, Ali Montgomery and Tara Walsh hounded the Blaze defense into turnovers, and the few times that Blaze forwards gained the offensive zone, the Tigers defensive complement of Kathleen Demaria, Emily Schlapp, Lauren Mixon and Maggie Rogers were like a stone wall in front of first-half goalie Melanie McHugh. Melanie saved a Blaze scoring threat and punted out of trouble to end the first half with the Tigers in front, 1-0.

An early second-half effort by Maggie Rogers was stopped by the Blaze goalie, but a run up the right side by Lauren Mixon culminated in a beautiful cross to Tara Walsh, who scored her first of two goals in the second half. Midway through the second half, Kelly Punturo replaced Melanie in goal for the Tigers, who limited the Blaze to only two shots for the game in gaining their third shutout of the season.

The coaching staff once again thanks all of the players' parents and friends of the team for their support.
