Are you thinking of sending your child to nursery or preschool? Are you unsure of the program that is right for you and your child? This Ladies Night Out is for you! With registration for nursery and preschool just around the corner in November, this is an excellent opportunity to find out about the various preschool options in Garden City. Come join us for dinner at Orchid Restaurant, Tuesday, October 11 at 7 p.m. Listen to gust speakers from at least seven Garden City preschools as you enjoy Orchid’s delicious Chinese cuisine. Cost is $36 and includes appetizers, soup, dinner, dessert and a glass of wine.For more information please call 746-0802.

Halloween Party

The annual Halloween Party is back! Members and friends are welcome. Please join us on Sunday, October 30 from 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the Nassau County Bar Association (located at 15th Street and West Street in Mineola). Children of all ages are welcome for brunch, pumpkin painting, magic acts and lots of Halloween fun! There will be contests for the best adult costume and best baked Halloween goods. The cost is $25 per adult and $15 per child (age 4 and older). Please send checks payable to “The Garden City Welcoming Club” to Mary Donohue at 40 Yale Street by October 15th. For seating purposes, please specify the names and ages of all children attending, including those under age 4.

Arts & Crafts

We know it is only October, but what better time to start planning for the holidays. Come join us on Wednesday, November 2 from 7:30-9 p.m. at the Garden City Library to create your own beautiful holiday wreath assisted by Suzi Williamson of It’s Treemendous. Participants should bring a wire cutter, scissor, glue gun, glue sticks, and an extension cord. Please send checks payable to The Garden City Welcoming Club” for $45 to Tricia Byrne at 19 Kingsbury Road.

Membership in the Garden City Welcoming Club is open to all village residents. If you are new to town or currently reside in Garden City please call 775-5154 for more information regarding membership. The club organizes various activities for women, couples, and families throughout the year and is an excellent forum for meeting and socializing within the community.
