Anthony Cascione, Matt Packman, Tim Coogan, Franklin Dickinson and Matt Fox jam the run. The second week of the season found us in Franklin Square, against a tough Warrior Team. Both teams played their hearts out, in a game that turned out to be a defensive battle. The Thunder prevailed coming away with a big 6-0 victory.

The offensive line of Mattingly Packman, Tim Fitzgerald, Chris Barnes, Timmy Coogan, Michael Gilbert, Patrick Niebler, Connor Greene and Dennis Armstrong opened the huge holes for the RB’s Andy Calabro, Christian Morreale, Brendan Orr, and Eddie Tigh, to run through. Even though we only scored with six points, the offense lead by QB Ryan McLaughlin moved the ball up and down the field all day.

Ryan McLaughlin blocks as Eddie Tigh throws a pass. The key to the game was the defense, which stood tall and nailed down the victory with a shutout. The defense was lead by Kyle Catigan, Anthony Cascione, Franklin Dickinson, Chris Diglio, Matt Fox, John Mixon, Michael Rogers and Jonathan Warhust.

The team responded with a great effort after their season opening 12-6 loss against Inwood. The win evened out our record at 1-1. The whole team gave an outstanding effort. Some key plays in the game were: Matt Fox fourth down sack, Eddie Tigh touchdown run, Jonathan Warhurst’s punt block, Brendan Orr circus catch and return from the injured list of John Mixon. All were top ten nominees on Monday’s ESPN. Next week’s game brings us to Hempstead, come on down and watch!
