What's Up For Young AdultsAt The Library

Registration began September 24th for the second Yak and Snack of the school year. Young Adults are invited to read the book, Smuggler's Island by Avi, come to the Library on Saturday, November 5th at 2:30 PM to discuss it with other Young Adults and Mrs. Kelly, the Young Adult Librarian while enjoying refreshments. This "history-mystery" takes place in 1932. It is the saga of bootleggers and smugglers who take over an island home to be resisted by a young man all alone. When signing up for the discussion, a copy of the book will be available.

Registration continues for a Wreath Workshop to be held on Saturday, October 1st. This workshop, open to all Young Adults in grades 6-12 will be taught by Joanne McGerty. It is being offered at two times: 1-2:30 PM and at 3-4:30PM. Please choose one time at registration. Each participant will take home a completed wreath decorated in fall fabric colors and patterns.

Teen Read Week 2005 - "Get Real - Read For the Fun of It" is celebrated October 16-22. To kick off the week the Young Adult Department will be hosting a workshop at which students decorate lycra book covers. Each participant will be given a complimentary book to go with the bookcover...and to "read for the fun of it". The workshop will be held on Saturday, October 15th at 1:00-2:00pm and repeated at 2:15-3:15pm.
