Blood Drive At Resurrection
Please mark Monday, October 3rd on your calendar - in RED!
This is the day you will have the opportunity to give one of life’s great gifts. - BLOOD!
From 3:30 to 9 PM persons 16-75 years of age may donate a pint of much needed blood. This project will be staffed by professionals from the Long Island Blood Services and will be located in the Parish Hall of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection at 420 Stewart Ave. in Garden City.
Generally, the people needing blood the most urgently are the elderly, especially those being treated for cancer. The second largest group is children suffering from blood diseases, cancer and accidents. All of those people are relying on those of us who are able to donate blood to maintain a constant supply. It’s a sad fact that only four people out of 100 who are able to donate do so.
Blood must be available for anyone who needs it. It cannot be manufactured, harvested or mined. Its only source is healthy caring people who understand that giving blood is a community responsibility. People like you are counting on people like you to make sure blood will be there when it is needed.
If you are between 16 and 75 years old, weigh at least 110 lbs. and are in good health, you may donate. 16 year olds must bring a learners permit and parental permission. You must bring a valid ID card with name and signature donor card.
Please eat and drink prior to your appointment. The process takes only one hour, including a mini physical, brief medical history, blood donation, refreshment and brief rest time.
Please help us help others in need. For Further information please call Lillian Mesloh, 741-0098. - Monday October 3rd -3:30 - 9 PM.
