Walter M. Jaworski
Walter M. Jaworski, Brooklyn Born, February 17, 1915, Garden City resident since 1969, passed at home, August 22 nd, after his noble battle with Cancer. Loving husband of Penny/Agnes (nee Curley) sharing 57 years of marriage. Beloved father of Regina Imperio, G.C.; Karen Patton, Westbury; Walter III, G.C.; Deborah Kern, Port Richy, Florida and Andrea Coll, Brooklyn. Cherished Grandfather of ten and Greatgrandfather of two.
Walter retired from New York State Department of Labor, Bureau of Safety and Health in 1989.
He and his wife divided their time between Garden City, N.Y. and Largo, Florida.
Each year since 1992, Walter competed in Florida Senior Olympics “Good Life Games” winning 154 medals in several events and even in March of this year, he was the proud recipient of 14 Gold Medals. Because of these abilities he captured “The Golden Torch Award” as outstanding athlete in his age group. During the summer month’s while in Garden City, he enjoyed the Garden City Pool, friends and staff, doing his laps and keeping in shape. Walter said “Being an active Senior adds to a healthy and satisfying life”.
Member of Garden City Retired Men’s Club, Third Degree Brother and Chancellor of St. Matthews K of C Council 11226 Largo, Florida, Past President of Ranchero Village Men’s Club, Largo, Florida. Member of Local UFCW 888.
Wednesday, August 24 th, Funeral Service was directed by Fairchild Sons; Mass of Christian Burial at Church of St. Joseph’s, G.C. Interment at Holy Rood Cemetery, Westbury. A luncheon for family, friends and neighbors was hosted at The Carltun, Eisenhower Park.
