Chess Classes For Children
Some of the winners in Garden City!
The L.I. Chess Nuts is starting its' 10th banner year in Garden City this month. All children, K thru High School, are invited to learn this exciting game, and, to play others at their own level (beginner through advanced lessons are offered). The upcoming Fall Session, taught by expert chess coaches, is packed with challenges, special events, tournaments, lessons, and much more! Chess challenges the mind; it improves school grades, reading levels, and math scores; it increases confidence and self-esteem; and, it is the fastest growing "sport" in America for children.
Highlights of the last season included tournaments held in Garden City, complete with trophies and medals, and, the sixth annual L.I. Chess Nuts Camp, held at Adelphi University, where campers learned a great deal about chess, in a fun-filled environment.
Chessplayers in action!

Also, the club's major tournament of the year, held at Adelphi University, continues to be the most prestigious chess tournament on Long Island, with a record-breaking number of grandmasters in the Open Section, and over 150 children competing for prizes in the seven scholastics sections!
There were many other exciting Chess activities as well, in a very busy year! Overall, there are over 1,200 members of the L.I. Chess Nuts - in Garden City and in over 40 participating schools.
