Christopher Callahan, son of John & Adelaide Callahan of Garden City, has been appointed first dean of the Walter Kronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communications at the University of Arizona. The appointment was made by Mr. Kronkite.

The department is scheduled to move off campus into a new building that will house twenty-two faculty members and two thousand students.

He will reside in Scottsdale with his wife Jean and sons Cody and Casey.
