Erin Ley Former Garden City resident Erin (Heenan) Ley is proud to announce that her children's book "Maggie's in the Driver's Seat" has recently been published. The book is comprised of six stories, accompanied by full-color illustrations, which are written to help provide parents with the tools to teach to children how to build positive character traits and discover basic human virtues.

Ley is a 1984 graduate of Garden City High School and currently lives in Smithtown with her husband and three children. She is a cancer survivor, and her seven-year-old son Brendan has a potentially life-threatening allergy to peanuts. Ten percent of the proceeds from the book will be donated to the Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Network (FAAN), an organization that is helpful for individuals with food allergies and their families.

Written for children ages four and up, each adventure story takes space academy student Maggie the Magnificent to a different planet where a different character trait is illustrated, learned and applied. Maggie discovers responsibility, respect, honesty and accountability, compassion, self-discipline and generosity. As she encounters these traits, she realizes how she can apply them to her own life.
