Garden City Kiwanians John Castro, Jim Olsen, Rich Deremer and Tara Miner set up a welcoming tent while Les Cuneo watched. The Garden City Kiwanis Club met at Hempstead Town Hall on July 31 at 7 a.m. for the "Kiwanis Camp Send-Off." The Kiwanis, a fraternal community service organization, raised funds to send 30 disadvantaged children for an all-expenses-paid week to a camp in upstate New York.

Besides camp, the Kiwanis Club donates funds to Mercy 1st for Thanksgiving and Christmas, scouting, and many other organizations devoted to the needs of children. For information on how to make a donation or to join, please call John Collins at (516) 240-4361.
