The concert begins at 7:15 p.m. at the Garden City Gazebo on Stewart Avenue. In the event of rain, the concert will be moved indoors to Cluett Hall at St. Paul’s.

Pre-school summer camp

The Garden City Recreation Department will be conducting a Pre-School Camp for girls and boys 3.5 to 5 years old who are residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City. Children who attend this camp MUST be 3.5 years by the start of the session they choose. This camp will be held at the St.Paul’s Cluett Hall from 10:30 a.m. to noon. The cost of each one week session will be $75. Arts and crafts, music, nature, and stories will fill the one and one half hour class. The sessions are as follows:

Session I: July 11 thru July 15

Session II: July 18 thru July 22

Session III: July 25 thru July 29

Session IV: August 1 thru August 5

Session V: August 8 thru August 15.

Children must be 3.5 years by the start of the class. a copy of the child’s birth certificate must accompany the registration.

To register: by mail only, no walk in registrations will be accepted until May 24. We can not be held responsible for delays in the mail. To register, pick up an application at the Recreation Office in Village Hall or at St. Paul’s. You can also make your own by listing your child’s name, address, phone number, birth date, grade he/she will be entering in September and the camp you are registering. Mail all information with payment to the Garden City Recreation Department at 351 Stewart Avenue. Please make all checks payable to the “Inc. Village of Garden City.”

FIELD HOCKEY CAMP FOR GIRLS

The Recreation Department will offer a summer field hockey camp for girls entering grades 4 through 7 in September. This camp will be held the week of July 18th from 10 a.m. to noon at Garden City Community Park’s soccer field. The camp, directed by Pat Kennedy, former field hockey coach at C.W. Post, will teach the skills and techniques needed for the sport as well as the rules of the game. The cost of this camp will be $60. SUMMER SPORTS CAMPS

The Recreation Dept.’s summer sports camps are rapidly approaching capacity. The following camps still have limited availability:

summer adult tennis lessons

The Garden City Recreation Department will conduct evening tennis lesson for adults who are residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City. The lessons will be held at the Garden City Community Park Tennis Facility and will run in three, 4 week sessions. There will be a maximum of four players on a court. The dates, times, and fees will be as follows.

Session 1 - June 6-30, meets Mon., Tues., Wed., or Thurs. at 7-8 p.m. or 8-9 p.m. for $80

Session 2 - July 5-Aug. 1, meets Mon., Tues., Wed., or Thurs. at 7-8 p.m. or 8-9 p.m. for $80

Session 3 - Aug. 2-29, meets Mon., Tues., Wed., or Thurs. at 7-8 p.m. or 8-9 p.m. for $80

We will also offer our popular Ultimate Workout Program for adults on Tuesday evenings from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on the following dates:

Ultimate Workout

Session 1 meeting dates - June 7, 14, 21, 28 and July 5

Session 2 meeting dates - July 12, 19, 26, August 2, 9

The cost of each session of Ultimate Workout will be $100.

Applications for these programs can be picked up at the Recreation Dept. or at the Tennis Hut at Community Park.

MEN’S SUMMER SOFTBALL LEAGUE

Application packages are now available for the Recreation Department’s summer softball league for men. Rosters will be accepted from teams meeting the following eligibility rquirements:

1. All players on the team are high school graduates or older.

2. Teams comprised of current residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City, and/or

3. Players must have resided in the Inc. Village of Garden City during their high school years, and/or

4. Players working as employees for the Inc. Village of Garden City.

The fee for this league will be $500, which covers umpire fees, balls, and trophies. Applications will not be accepted without a completed roster, a copy of each player’s current driver’s license, and a check to cover the league fee.

Roster packages are available for pick up in Village Hall, the deadline for submitting completed applications will be Wednesday, June 22. League play will begin, beginning by division on Tuesdau,. June 28.
