Lizards Lacrosse Team Holds Session In GC!
Greg Cattrano, Lizards’ goalie, takes time-out to sign a few autographs for some young lax’ers from Garden City. Greg has been named MLLgoaltender of the year three times. He was voted league MVP2002. He has been named NCAAgoalie of the year and was named All-American two times while attending Brown University. He represented team USAin the 1999 World Cup
On a very cool, windy and damp Tuesday evening May 24
th, the Long Island Lizards of the professional Major Lacrosse League turned the sump field at GC HIGH into a lacrosse field of dreams. All lacrosse enthusiasts were invited to come and attend. For those that did brave the conditions and spectated this session it was clearly evident that the bar has been raised and the level that these professionals play at is truly phenomenal. The Lizards’ players were fantastic with those in attendance by taking time to sign autographs, take pictures and provide helpful lacrosse tips.
“The Field of Dreams” a Great Event!
There may be a Garden City Night at the Lizards home game vs Boston on Aug 12. (Stay tuned) Boston is coached by Garden City’s Scott Hiller. Boston has just drafted the top Collegiate defenseman in the country, Garden City’s Tom Garvey of John Hopkins University. Just last week Long Island Lizards player Chris Massey (also from Garden City) was named MLL Offensive Player of the Week after scoring 5 goals in a 19-14 win over Philadelphia. Massey currently leads the league in goal scoring along with teammate Blake Miller of Manhasset with 10 a piece.
