Peter’s Prayer

How can we let you rest, dear Peter

Without these words of praise

And tell you what a gift you left

On those - your final days

From the day of diagnosis

Till the day you did depart

You touched the very deepest part

In each and every heart.

So honored we were to help you

We couldn’t do enough

You fought the battle every day

So gentle…yet so tough

We gathered at your beside

Devastated by your plight

We shared the laughs and shed our tears

As we watched you cling to life.

God was with you in the end, whispering in your ear

Your love for us so profound - your message crystal clear

Take each day and live it and know that He is near

Accept each challenge we must face,

there’s nothing we should fear.

Your soul took flight too quickly, Peter

Sweet memories we embrace

Help us now to dry our tears with the sadness we now face

So many hearts are grieving, yet strengthened by our faith

Your life was an everlasting testament of God’s amazing grace.
