Choral Festival To Be Offered
June 2005--The Adelphi University Department of Music is pleased to collaborate for the first time with Long Island Masterworks to host the prestigious Long Island Choral Festival and Institute from July 10-16, 2005.
The Choral Festival and Institute provides singers with an opportunity to perform major works for chorus and orchestra. A distinguished faculty, including Adelphi professors, will teach a variety of courses of interest to singers, conductors, music educators, and those who want a broader, richer experience singing great choral literature. Participants are welcome to sing in the Festival Chorus, take classes, and stay for a day or the entire week. Most courses are available for graduate credit for an additional fee, and in-service credit is available for teachers. Participants are able to take advantage of Adelphi's elegantly landscaped 75-acre Garden City, NY campus and stay in the residence halls for a modest fee.
Advance registration is required to ensure enrollment. Registration is open to all singers, 18 or older, with previous choral experience who are able to meet the physical and vocal demands of the rehearsal schedule.
