Senior Summer Beach Program

Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray has announced that the Department of Senior Enrichment will present its 38th annual Senior Summer Beach Program at Lido Beach Town Park.

"I invite senior residents to come down to Lido Beach and enjoy the daily classes, activities and entertainment that is offered during our ten-week program. In addition to painting, special craft classes, dancing, aquatic exercises, bocci, and movies, top-notch performers offer daily entertainment," said Murray.

Hempstead Town Councilwoman Angie Cullin said, "Whether taking an aquatic exercise class at the adjacent Town of Hempstead Sands Park pool or joining friends for a sing along under the cool shade of the big tent, the Senior Summer Beach Program provides the perfect way for our town seniors to spend warm summer days."

The ten-week program, which begins on Monday, June 27, will take place each weekday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. through September 2. This year's theme is "BROADWAY AT THE BEACH", and promises an exciting line up of entertainment.

The Senior Summer Beach program is open to all Hempstead Town senior residents ages 60 years and over. Beach passes which have been mailed to Town of Hempstead senior citizens entitle use of free bus transportation from designated pick-up stations on appointed days. For residents who prefer to drive their own car to the beach program, the pass permits them to free parking any weekday at Lido Beach Town Park. Please note that the passes are not valid on Saturday or Sunday. While it is suggested that seniors bring their lunch from home, the popular refreshment counter will be open to purchase snacks and beverages.

"Put a little sunshine in your summer schedule and join us down at Lido Beach. The wonderful summer season is the perfect time to head down to the beach and enjoy the wide array of activities that are planned for you," concluded Murray.

For further information or to obtain your free summer beach pass, seniors may contact the Department of Senior Enrichment at (516) 485-8100.
