Lady Rams Battle To A Draw

In a seesaw contest this past Sunday at St. Pauls field, the fourth grade Lady Rams withstood a strong fourth quarter Manhasset comeback to a net 8-8 tie.
The tie was preserved by Olivia Zimmer's sixth save of the second half as time expired. The steady goaltending of Zimmer and MJ Kessenich (five first half saves) was supported by strong defensive play from Samantha Pflume and Caliegh McGoldrick, as well as aggressive groundball play from the Pasquale sisters, Anne and Carolyn.
The Lady Rams opened the scoring Krista Dampman's goal before Manhasset rallied to take a 4-1 first quarter lead. Second quarter goals by Courtney Stoddart, Carly Knowles, and Addie Zewbrowski, allowed the Lady Rams to go into half time with a 4-4 tie.

The second half play was furious as goals by Stoddart (two goals for the afternoon), Knowles (hat trick), and Haley Shannon saw the Lady Rams jump out to an 8-5 lead before Manhasset mounted their comeback. Strong passing and assists were recorded by Marie Cristoforo (three assists), Jacqueline Jahelka, Katherine McDougal, and Emily Betts during the game.
The offense was set-up by the tireless midfield play of the Lauren Coleman, Louisa Boliva, Mimi Johnson, Kelly Kubler and Jacqueline Jahelka, as the middies controlled play during the second and third quarters.
