summer roller hockey program
The Garden City Recreation Department is pleased to announce its Summer Roller Hockey League for children who are residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City. All games will be played at 7 p.m. at the Community Park Hockey Rinks according to the following schedule:
Ages 5-7Mondays –beginning June 6th
Ages 8-10Wednesdays –beginning June 8th
Ages 11-13Thursdays –beginning June 9th
The cost of this 8 week program is $50.00. The registration deadline for this program is Thursday, May 26th. Applications are now available in Village Hall on Stewart Avenue and at the Tennis Hut in Community Park.
re-school summer camp
The Garden City Recreation Department will be conducting a Pre-School Camp for girls and boys 3.5 to 5 years old who are residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City. Children who attend this camp MUST be 3.5 years by the start of the session they choose. This camp will be held at the St.Paul’s Cluett Hall from 10:30 a.m. to noon. The cost of each one week session will be $75. Arts and crafts, music, nature, and stories will fill the one and one half hour class. The sessions are as follows:
Session I: July 11 thru July 15
Session II: July 18 thru July 22
Session III: July 25 thru July 29
Session IV: August 1 thru August 5
Session V: August 8 thru August 15.
Children must be 3.5 years by the start of the class. a copy of the child’s birth certificate must accompany the registration.

boy’s summer lacrosse camp
The Recreation Department will offer a Lacrosse Camp for boys who are entering 3rd through 6th grades in September, 2005. This camp is open to children who are residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City. The program will teach them the techniques of catching, throwing, and scooping. They will then move on to drills and the rules of the game. The boys will play inter group games on a modified lacrosse field. All equipment is supplied and no previous experience is necessary.
The program is conducted by Bob Defliese and Wally Cook, of the Garden City Schools, during the week of July 11 to 14 (Monday through Thursday) on the fields at Stewart Field. The camp will run from 9 a.m. to noon each day. The fee for this camp is $90 per player which includes the cost of a T-Shirt.

Summer Soccer camp
The Garden City Recreation Department will be conducting a Youth Soccer Camp for Boys and Girls who are residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City during the weeks of August 1 through 4, and August 8 through 11, 2005 at Community Park (behind the pool).
This instructional program will be offered for Boys and Girls Ages 6 through 12. Youngsters must be six by the start of the camp and entering first grade in September 2005 in order to register for this camp. proof of age will be required.
The Two Hour Session will run from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., at a cost of $60, and will focus on individual skill development. The five hour session will run from 9:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. at a cost of $130. The five hour session will include an hour lunch break and swim session supervised by the Soccer Camp Staff, to be followed by full field games.
When choosing a session, please realize that our full day program is a long day and might not be appropriate for the younger child. Participants must be in good health and able to participate in this physical activity.

Summer basketball camp
(3rd - 6th Grade)
The Garden City Recreation Department will be conducting a Youth Basketball Camp for boys and girls who are residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City from June 27 to June 30. The purpose of this program is to provide instruction in self improvement, basketball fundamentals, team play, group cooperation, and most important of all, FUN! This camp will be held in the St. Paul’s Field House under the direction of Pat Kennedy.
This instructional camp will be offered for boys and girls entering GRADES 3 & 4 in September, 2005 from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. A session for boys and girls entering GRADES 5 & 6 in September, 2005 will be run from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. There will be a limit of 40 children for each session.

girls’ lacrosse camp
The Garden City Recreation Department will be holding a summer Lacrosse Camp for girls who are residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City. Girls entering 3rd through 6th grades in September, 2005 are eligible for this camp.
The girls will learn the fundamentals and the rules of this sport in a fun setting. All necessary equipment will be provided and no previous experience is needed.
The program will be run by Bob Defliese and Wally Cook, who both have years of experience in lacrosse. The group will meet on weekday mornings during the weeks of July 11 to 14 (Monday through Thursday) at Stewart Field The camp will run from 9 am to noon each day. The fee is $90 per player.

summer baseball camp
The Recreation Department will again conduct a Summer Baseball Camp for boys and girls that are Residents of the Village of Garden City. The camp will be held Monday through Thursday during the weeks of July 18 to 21 and July 25 to 28, 2005 at Community Park. This instructional program is offered for boys and girls, aged 6 to 12, in two hour sessions for either one week or two weeks. Children who register for this program MUST be six by the start of the session. Sessions are held from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. for children 6 to 8 years old, and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for children 9 to 12 years old. The camp will focus on individual skill development, and the importance of playing together as a team.

Youth tennis camp
The Garden City Recreation Department will conduct a Tennis Camp program for boys and girls aged seven and up who are residents of the Incorporated Village of Garden City. The sessions will run according to the following age groups: 7 & 8 years, 9 through 11 years, and 12 years or older. The age of the child at the start of the session will determine which session the child may attend. This instructional program will be conducted in two hour classes. each child may sign up for a maximum of two sessions. The dates, times and fees are as follows:

peewee tennis camp
There are limited spaces available for our summer peewee tennis program for 4-6 year olds. Please visit the Recreation Office in Village Hall for available dates and to obtain a registration form. Registration is mail in only until May 25.
summerr adult tennis lessons
The Garden City Recreationn Department will conduct evening tennis lesson for adults who are residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City. The lessons will be held at the Garden City Community Park Tennis Facility and will run in three, 4 week sessions. There will be a maximum of four players on a court. The dates, times, and fees will be as follows.
Session 1 - June 6-30, meets Mon., Tues., Wed., or Thurs. at 7-8 p.m. or 8-9 p.m. for $80
Session 2 - July 5-Aug. 1, meets Mon., Tues., Wed., or Thurs. at 7-8 p.m. or 8-9 p.m. for $80
Session 3 - Aug. 2-29, meets Mon., Tues., Wed., or Thurs. at 7-8 p.m. or 8-9 p.m. for $80

We will also offer our popular Ultimate Workout Program for adults on Tuesday evenings from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on the following dates:
