on may 20, a 33-year-old Babylon man allegedly stole a pocketbook containing credit cards after failing to pay his bar tab at the Posh Room, GC Hotel, around 3:45 am.... on the same day, a 29-year-old Hempstead man was arrested for assault 3 rd degree after he allegedly bit the bus driver’s finger during an argument.... a 17-year-old garden city male was arrested near the Nassau Boulevard train station on May 22. He was charged with criminal trespass of the railroad tracks, the possession of a forged instrument (license), the possession of marijuana, the possession of alcohol and for resisting arrest.... between may 6 and may 20, burglars broke into a garage on Transverse Rd. and removed a radio valued at $150 from a car.... at 1:20 am, on May 22, police arrested a 29-year-old Dix Hills woman who allegedly threw a drinking glass at a 29-year-old Long Beach woman. The glass caused a contusion over the victim’s eye and the Dix Hills woman was charged with assault second degree.... on may 18, the Garden City Police Department, along with the Nassau County Probation Department and the Nassau County Police Canine officers conducted a checkpoint of licenses, for people attending a meeting held by MADD. The meeting is mandatory for all persons with DWI offenses, and is in accordance to the Probation Department or a judge. There was 1 arrest for aggravated unlicensed operation first degree (felony); 9 persons were arrested for aggravated unlicensed operation second degree for suspensions due to DWI offenses; there was 1 arrest for aggravated unlicensed operation for a suspended license on 3 dates or more; there were 7 arrests for aggravated unlicensed operation 3 rd degree; 1 arrest for the possession of a controlled substance; 2 arrests for the criminal possession of weapons (switchblade knives); 11 for miscellaneous; 1 appearance ticket for an active Hempstead Village Code warrant and 15 vehicles were impounded.... on may 21, 12:26 am, police issued an appearance ticket to Roxbury Rd. residents for a loud party and for alcohol consumption by person under 21. Also, police are continuing to investigate the matter of a damaged mirror on one of the police cars. It seems that some youths running from the scene decided to break a mirror on a patrol car.... on may 19, from 12 pm to 1 pm, at Nassau County Field 14, someone stole a 1989 Mazda MX6.... po Cristiano arrested a 49-year-old Hempstead man for aggravated unlicensed operation (suspended license due to a DWI offense), unlicensed operation for an improper exhaust system on his car, at Second Street, on May 19.... on may 19, the police, along with U.S. Postal inspectors, arrested a 43-year-old Floral Park man, who was an employee in the mail room at Adelphi University, after mail was discovered missing. An investigation continues. On May 17, The County Probation Department called police to report that a person on probation with a suspended license for DWI had possibly driven a car. Police subsequently arrested a 52-year-old Farmingdale man for aggravated unlicensed operation 2 nd degree.... between 9:45 am and 10 am on May 17, someone entered a Whitehall Blvd. residence and stole silver medals valued at $23,000 and French crystal valued at $2,000.... on may 18, 12:25 pm, a 78-year-old Plainview man lost control of his car and hit a pole at Russell Rd./Old Country Rd. He was declared dead at the scene and unfortunately his wife, a 77-year-old succumbed to her injuries two days later at Winthrop Hospital....

speedidy was used to clean a spill after an accident occurred at Stewart Ave./Brixton Rd. on May 19.... the Fd also cleaned a spill from Field 6 at Adelphi University on May 22.... on the same day, firemen were called by the Police Dept. to investigate an odor in the dispatch area, which turned out to be a malfunctioning video monitor.... a truck struck the overpass on Cherry Valley Avenue on May 23, and the FD responded to the scene where a cutter and saw were used to remove portions of the truck.... police requested the FD to check a light pole on a metal fence, no voltage was found.
