The Liberty team passed the ball effectively and employed their strong defensive tactics throughout the game to keep the opponents at bay. After an early lead by Floral Park, Charlotte Castronovo scored for the Liberty tying the score at 1-1. The second Liberty goal, by Joanna Georgiton, gave them a one goal lead. Late in the second half Floral Park tied the score 2-2. The Liberty offense remained relentless and Joanna Georgiton, with a perfect feed from Erin Greiner, successfully put the winning goal over the head of the Floral Park goalie in the last minutes of the game. Goalie Paulette Mohacsi, who defended the goal the entire game, held the Floral Park team to only two goals.
