The Goalbusters
The Goalbusters The Goalbusters, a GU-12 team traveled for a match with the undefeated Terryville Terror. The entire game was played in a teaming, cold rain, but that didn't dampen the Goalbusters.

The Terror struck first with a goal in the first 10 minutes of the first half. Slippery conditions forced a messy condition in front of the Goalbuster's end and the Terror was able to get one in the net for a score of 1-0. At the 20 minute, the Terror goalie punted a high, shallow ball. In an excellent display of teamwork, Goalbuster defender, Lauren Engelke, trapped the ball with her body, and then passed it off to Elizabeth Mahoney. Elizabeth fed the ball to midfielder Krysta Cento, who was waiting on the right wing. Krysta saw forward Caroline Tarzian making a run up the middle toward the goal box and passed the ball to her. Caroline took a shot, forcing the goalie out of the net. This allowed for the Goalbusters to even up the score at 1-1. This was just one example of the level of play the entire Goalbuster team displayed for the rest of the game.

The Goalbusters had control of the game. Unfortunately, even though the Goalbusters had two break-away one-on-one shots against the Terror's goalie, they weren't able to add to the score. However, the score doesn't really tell the entire story. The Goalbusters played a great game the entire 60 minutes, never giving up and never backing down. The coaches were very pleased and proud with the quality of their game and the entire team deserves recognition for a job well done. The Goalbuster goalies cleared attempts on goal. The defense was awesome in keeping the ball from penetrating. The midfielders hustled back and forth moving the ball up toward the front line. The forwards beat out the Terror's defense time and again.

Head coach Walt Winchurch and assistant coaches Bill Mahoney and Pete Takach, congratulated the team for a great game.
